Northwest Territories – Canada

In 2000, SSI Micro and the NWT Power Corporation formed a joint venture to deploy state of the art satellite solutions in seven northern communities. This joint venture has resulted in the deployment of very advanced satellite technology in Northern Canada. This full mesh TDMA network provides functionality that surpasses that of most other commercial offerings. Features like dynamic bandwidth allocation, extreme scalability, re-allocable CIR, multiple interface options and integrated IP multicast support ensure that this network will continue to provide service for many years to come.

At the time of its design, this network was first in Canada and fifth in the world to use this technology

SSI supplied the site design, engineering and implementation along with the equipment sourcing and logistics. 24/7 monitoring is provided via SSI’s 2 geographically redundant network operations centers.

The SSI/NTPC network gained national recognition and was honored by the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) in 2000 winning in the Next Generation solution category. The CIPA awards is a celebration of IT and innovation implementation excellence in organizations across Canada.
