WinMac Dene Fonts Version 2.0

INSTALLING
**********************************************************

To install Fonts, Keyboard Layouts, the Keyman 5.0 Application
and documentation, double-click on the "denefonts.exe" icon.

For simplest installation, just keep clicking the "Next" button and the
"Finish" button at the end.

The installation will add two folders to "Programs" on your "Start" menu.
"Tavultesoft Keyman" contains the keyboard manager application, 
and "WinMac Dene Fonts" contains documentation.

Click on the "Start" button, then "Programs", then "Tavultesoft Keyman" 
to start the Keyboard Manager.  Click on the splash screen to dismiss it.

Open the Word Processing document you intend to use, 
Then click on the Keyman icon in your system tray (next to the clock).
A pop-up menu will allow you to chose your keyboard layout.
If you have not typed Dene Fonts before I recommend the Vowel First
keyboard layout.

Before you begin typing, make sure you select one of the WinMac 
fonts in your Word Proccessing application.  

If you change to a different application, the keyboard layout will revert 
to your default windows keyboard.  It will change back to the Dene 
layout when you click back into your word processor document.  If you 
want to type Dene characters into more than one application, you will
need to select a Dene keyboard from within each application.

HOW TO TYPE WITH WINMAC DENE KEYBOARD LAYOUTS...
*******************************************************

To add the Dene diacritics to vowels use the number keys
Type the vowel first when using the "WinMac Vowel First Dene" keyboard
Type the number first when using the "WinMac Dene Key" keyboard
-> 4 for acute accent (high tone)
-> 5 for grave accent (low tone)
-> 6 for nasal hook under the vowel
-> 7 for combination nasal hook and high tone
-> 8 for combination nasal hook and low tone
North Slavey shwa is on the Q key
E-dieresis (the other shwa) upper & Lower case are on the 2 and 3 keys
Dene consonants, Voiceless L and Initial Glottal Stop are on the 
semicolon and left bracket keys respectively.  Glottals within a 
syllable are typed with a single quote.  It is best to turn off 
smart quotes in your word processor.

A complete chart showing all the Dene Characters and the keystrokes 
needed in also installed.  Find it by clicking on the "Start" button, 
then "Programs", then "WinMac Dene Fonts", then "Chart of Dene 
Characters & Keystrokes".

"Chart of Dene Characters" is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.  This PDF
document has the a Dene Font embedded so it can even be viewed on 
computers which do not have the Dene Fonts installed.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the PDF file - available from 
                    www.adobe.com.
