NORTHWEST TERRITORIES 5 PIN BOWLERS' ASSOCIATION
WE NEED YOU!
WHO?
5 Pin Bowling Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes. There's something for everyone. You don't have to be a high average skilled player with years of experience. You don't even have to be a bowler! This doesn't have to be a long range commitment for a certain number of hours every week. We can work around your schedule, inside or outside your home. Regardless of who you are, there's a place for you in 5 Pin Bowling.
WHY?
Some people become involved to give something back to a sport they enjoy...others just like the fun, the excitement and the feeling of accomplishment they get from participating as a part of a great team. And that, perhaps, is what is so unique about volunteering in 5 Pin Bowling, we all become part of a team that spans our country. It's a rewarding experience learning about all aspects of our game.
WHERE?
You can become a part of our team in your local bowling centre, working with people you bowl with every week. Some people continue their involvement outside of their local area and work in their zone, provincial or national organization. If you have the interest and the time, there's no limit to the scope of your involvement.
HOW?
All you need to do is simply ask at your local bowling centre, talk to your own League Executive or ask local house association volunteers.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
All you need to know is that you enjoy the game of 5 Pin Bowling. We try to match skills you already possess to jobs within our sport. Do you enjoy working with youth? Can you sell more tickets on a raffle than any of your friends? Can you talk to people? Do you have special training in business, in health, in life? Each person has special skills that we would be happy to put to use. We will also arrange to train you and provide you with new skills.
The Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association (C5PBA) is a bowlers' organization formed in 1978 with membership comprised of 11 Provincial/Territorial Associations encompassing all areas and boundaries within Canada except the Yukon. Each of these units further divided into Local (Zone) Associations which may represent a geographical area which contains several bowling centres.
The C5PBA offers a wide variety of programs and services to its members including: Rules & Regulations, Tournament Events, Achievement Recognition, Technical Support, Supplies and Fundraising Activities. These programs are administered nationally by an elected volunteer Board of Directors and professional office staff; provincially and locally by an elected volunteer Board of Directors. Each affiliated league is represented at the local level by its League Executive.
As this very brief description indicates, that's a lot of volunteer involvement. For that reason, we're always very happy to welcome a new volunteer onto our team. Here are some of the ways that you could become involved.

The Northwest Territories 5 Pin Bowlers' Association (NWT5PBA) is the organization responsible for coordinating 5 pin bowling in the NWT. The NWT5PBA is made up of two zones - the Yellowknife Zone and the Hay River Zone. Each zone is made up of many leagues. In addition to organizing and running tournaments the NWT5PBA coordinates the fund raising for the Kids' Help Phone(KHP). Every year we raise as much or more money for KHP than any other province. Many volunteers are necessary to maintain our excellent reputation. We could use your help in any one of many ways.

The Master Bowlers' Association (MBAC) is a bowlers organization, affiliated with the C5PBA, developed to further enhance competitive opportunities for adult bowlers while fulfilling the delivery of the Technical portion of the Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The MBAC is divided into three divisions: Tournament (scratch), Teaching (Pins-over-average) and Seniors (both). Many Teaching Division Masters are involved in the delivery of youth bowling programs.

The Youth Bowling Council (YBC) is a program of the Bowling Proprietors Association of Canada (BPAC) for all junior bowlers between the ages of 4 and 19 across Canada. Founded in 1963, the YBC offers organized youth league skills development and training to age specific groups within the local bowling centre. The YBC program consists of competent instruction, attractive crests, awards and a series of in-house, regional, provincial and national tournaments designed to accommodate all children, regardless of skill or ability levels.
Policy, direction and programs are determined by National and Provincial Boards of Directors and professional office staff of the Bowling Proprietors Association of Canada, although the program is administered locally and regionally by adult volunteers. Volunteers within your bowling centre are welcomed in the following areas:
Coaching & Instruction
Awards & Recognition Programs
